The Algarve pattern

Algarve* is no traditonal tee. It has loads of cute details, like the mini gathers at the neckline.

You will need a nice fabric with enough stretch AND drape.

Available for sizes ranging from US 00 to 40, the pattern* also has a regular bust and a full-bust integrated option.

The sleeves are integrated in the bodice. No need to be anxious about them!

I cut a straight size 6, based on both measurement chart and finished measurements chart.

It’s a loose fit so you may want to size down. The measurement chart put me in size 8, but I found that a size 6 (based on the finished measurements chart) would be a better fit.

Some tips for a bright top

Let’s say that ‘summer’ is not fully in bloom….

Most of the top has been assembled with my serger (Janome 744D).

The only problematic area was the neckline.

You must interface it properly and DO NOT STRETCH it when sewing it.

You may remember the Brisbane top and its cut-out neckline. It’s the same problem: you have a delicate neckline with a big risk of stretching.

You will use stay tape AND fusible interfacing for the neckline. Do not skip any of these or you’ll end up with a wavy neckline.

You’ll sew the neckline with your sewing machine, using an almost flat zigzag stitch (2.5 mm length, 0.5 width).
