PJs are the type of garments I like sewing because I can’t find what I like in shops.
My husband asked me to sew him a set in a fun print. I showed him Jalie’s classical set and offered to sew them for him.
- Jalie 2686
- Free pattern: Walk the Plank
- Flannel or polar fleece (you’ll need at least 4 m)
- Buttons and flat elastic for the waistband
- Fusible interfacing (choose one that is suitable to fuse at low temperature if using polar fleece or flannel).
A pattern for everyone
He tried on the top of my polar fleece Jalie set and it was the right size (I only added some length to the sleeves).
I never sew the pants featured in the classical pyajmas. I find them too slim and without enough ease.
Instead, I found a free pattern by Patterns for Pirates called Walk the Planck PJ bottoms. I made a quick muslin to check the fit and cut a size S.
I used some print-on-demand fabric* by Minerva. The name is “Not alone”! It’s lightweight and very easy to work with.
I added some light grey satin piping since my husband requested some.
Perfect set!
It’s just the perfect set.
He has new PJs (but neither too heavy nor warm).
I topstiched the facings down because that’s a point I always disliked with that pattern: the flipping facings.
Fun, right? And the best is that he asked for another set 😀 .
Will he begin to think I can sew for him 😉 ?
