Let’s start 2022 with a comfy garment.
This is the Tami hoodie by Pattern Niche, sewn for my daughter in a stretchy fur-back sweater knit.
Tami Revolution Double Hoodie
This is a pattern that offers quite a wide range of options:
- two lengths
- zipper jacket option
- thumbhole option
- simple hood, double hood, off-center hood, crossed hood
- raglan sleeves
- optional zippers on the raglans
- in-seam pockets or kangaroo pocket
Sizes go from XXS tou US30 and the stretch percentage should be 25% at leats, which is not much and is great for using rather low-stretch knits.
The teenager’s Tami
She asked for a rather plain Tami :
- simple hood
- standard length
- thumbholes
- kangaroo pocket
Nothing tricky.
This is a slim-fit hoodie so if you prefer a looser fit, size up.
The fabric I used is a very stretchy fur-back sweater knit. Its stretch percentage was around 60% so I also used it to sew the bottom band and cuffs. Its color is rather peach with khaki camo print.
So…?
The Tami is a pattern that can be sewn quickly when using the plain features.
Most of it was sewn using my serger, but the center front, where the layers of the hood overlap wa sewn with my sewing machine+ walking foot. It was too thick for my serger!
Since the wrong side was fur, I had to deep-clean both serger and sewing machine afterwards. Oh my, the amount of fur it shed!
