Madalena, parfait en toute saison

Madalena* is a layered PDF pattern available in US sizes 00 to 40, with cups from A to DD.

Its main features are the front and back princess seams that shape the silhouette. It’s a rather slim-fit top.

Meant for cotton or any top fabrics with some body, Madalena* can also be sewn out of babycord and worn over a shirt (that’s my plan!).

This is an unlined top: armholes and neckline are bound with invisible binding.

Unshelving somes remnants for my Madalena top

I had enough of this beautiful AGF poplin I had used for my Charlie bodysuit sewing fail to cut a size 8B cropped top.

I dutifully muslined it and found that my apex was too low compared to the pattern and I had some gaping at the front armhole.

I did minor adjustments to the bust and armholes, following my own article on bust adjustments!

Trust me about the back nice curve…! Invisible binding in curves is my Nemesis. I can’t make it properly without having it flipping to the right side, even with clipping the SA. I’m a failure!

I love a versatile top that looks good with either RTW pants or this other ITS pattern, the Quebrada skirt* (all about it in this article).
