Oups, I did it again…I made her another swimsuit! Still ussing a fabulous PandaLove swim fabric found on the Mondial Tissus website. You can have a look at the first swimsuit I made her here.
Since the bottoms of the North Shore* shape was great on her, we only cut the top with ruffle of the Ouvea pattern.
Ouvea, a pattern by Petitsdom
A new pattern the young lady loved because it looked like the one she had and outgrew.
The size chart placed her in a size 14Y. I was dubious and made a muslin…it was too small and provided no coverage where it was intended ;-). I cut the alrgest size, a size 16Y.
She chose the ruffle opton with the back cross straps.
It’s really cute, but it has absolutely no support underbust, probably because the elastic is only 3/8″ wide. She’s not happy at all with the fit and told me she won’t wear it…I can relate.
The swimsuit is unlined, so I lined it (call me The Rebel Seamstress!).
I also lined the ruffle with a coordinating swim fabric because PandaLove swim fabrics have white on the back and it would have shown with movement.
The ruffle makes the wrong side flip, even if it was understitched. The cause may be the absence of elastic around the neckline.
I’m really attracted by these swim fabrics and want to ew myself some swimsuits. Which of the three fabrics below should I choose?
Patterns: North Shore* and Ouvea
Fabric gifted by Mondial Tissus : swim fabric* (“Jungle by Night” is unavailable at the moment)
