Miss G and her Crystal Cove Cami

When I test patterns for Itch to Stitch there’s someone stalking me just in case the sizing might fit her!!! Lately, I tested the Crystal Cove Cami and Miss G was ecstatic! She does love ITS patterns a lot, especially the tops.

She’s right because the smallest size is perfect for developing girls.

The Crystal Cove Cami and my alterations

Apart from moving the bust darts up (+1″) and shortening the straps, I did nothing else. I chose to sew a size 00, with A cup.

What’s great when sewing for your beloved ones (or yourself) is those small alterations that make a garment fits. Her shoulders are not level so that means that if I had bought a RTW cami, one of the straps would have been askew. I shortened the lowest shoulder’s strap by 1 1/4″.

This pattern is not a fabric hog so I cut it out of my precious Liberty lawn and crepon from Cousette (generously gifted by my friend Karine, from  pm-patterns). These fabrics are very lightweight and they keep the ethereal aspect of the Crystal Cove Cami.

While looking for fabrics in my stash, the idea of sewing one half-back out of solid fabric imposed itself. I had some blue fabrics in mind…she chose bright pink and some lawn with a nice touch of yellow, her favorite color.

Another cami soon?

Probably…actually…it’s already cut, but I can’t say more…!

Miss G. really enjoys when I sew her something and I’m happy to comply! Now, when I test patterns and if the pattern sizing fits her measurements, I sew her own personal test garment!
