Socks have been the perfect project lately because they’re a small project I can carry around easily.
Once my A Walk in the Wild socks finished, I immediatly turned to more Christmassy socks, hence these Let It Snow socks*.
- Let it Snow sock pattern*
- Yarn* (1 of each for a size M)
- Circular needles* (sizes depending on your choice of yarn and your swatch)
Let It Snow sock pattern
The pattern was written by Renarde Endormie*. All of her patterns are available in French and English in one go (you purchase the pattern and you have both versions on separate files).
These patterns are a delight to work with. Very detailed and concise instructions lead you to an amazing result each time.
There are 3 colors, knitted two by two (exception on 2 rows where 3 colors are knitted). You also have to do a duplicate stitch for the hat pompom.
The snock is knitted from the top down with a eye-of-partridge heel.
Tradi-Merino from Plassard
Same yarn* from the same retailer i.e. Tradi-Merino for soft luxurious socks.
Instead of house socks knitted in 3 (thus, oversized), I knitted this pair in 2 and 2.5 mm.
I’m really happy with the Prym circular needles* I got. They are sturdy (they didn’t bend!) and the yarn slips on them easily. Once I bought thin circular needles from another brand and they were awful, bending after one sock and the paint was flaking….And it was a well-known brand.
If using long circular needles, you will have to use the magic loop method.
I asked for short circulars for Christmas, I’m sure I’ll love them.
I had fun knitting these socks. The color work is cute with this bear and its Christmas hat.
Am I the only one enjoying the inside of a color work sock? So pretty!
Instead of using the MC on the heel, I used red for contrast (and because I was afraid of running out of navy blue yarn!).
I didn’t do the duplicate stitch because I couldn’t see where to place it. Navy blue and small stitches are a nightmare for my old eyes!
I can’t wait knitting other sock patterns…because I couldn’t resist buying 2 more patterns from the designer. But they’ll have to wait because they’re Halloween patterns. So…I have some time ahead to source some purple and orange yarn!
