A Lille nightgown

by Elsa

I had to throw away my funny jersey knit nightgown with little crabs…so sad! Fortunately for me here is the new one, still based on the Lille pattern by Greenstyle Creations. That pattern is one of the few I tested back in 2014.

I reaaly outdid myself in the PJ department this year between summer PJ’s and winter ones!

The Lille pattern

It’s a pattern meant for knits, but Lille also has an option for a top made in jersey and a skirt in woven.

Pattern features

  • Racer back
  • 2 options for the front neckline: scoop or less scooped
  • Multiple lengths: tank, long tank, short/long dress, high-low hem

Sewing techniques

  • How to sew knits
  • How to sew knit bindings

My nightgown

That was a real quick project since it only has 5 pattern pieces.

I chose to sew a short dress with a scooped neckline.

This Art Gallery Fabrics jersey is extremely soft and stretchy (95% Pima cotton/ 5% Spandex).

I sewed a size M. This pattern has a lot of negative ease. That means is very form-fitting so you may want to go up one size for a less form-fitting tank/dress.

I only used my Janome serger and sewing machine. I could have used my coverlock machine for the bindings and hem, but it’s not plugged permanently and sits on top of my Kallax shelves. I was a bit lazy and left it where it was! I need to make some minor changes ot my sewing room to accomodate it on a more permanent basis.

Pattern: Lille

Fabric: jersey knit
