You know my love for all things pertaining to PJ’s, don’t you? I even shot a Youtube video dedicated to winter PJ’s!
This time, I sewed a night romper for hot summer days, the Day Dreamer* by Pattern Niche. Such a quick sew!
As a dress:
- mini-length
- knee- length
- straight hem
- curved hem with slits
As a romper:
- short
- capri
- long
Neckline:
- crew
- scoop
- V
Sleeves:
- sleeveless
- short
- 3/4
- longues
Option:
- side pocket(s)
I chose the short romper with the V neckline and sleeveless.
A summer romper
The fabric is from the mega mystery bundle from The Fabric Baron. If you want to know more about their mystery bundles, I shot a video about them.
The print reminds of some sherbet and paired well with the project. This knit is really stretchy (on a white background) and so soft.
I cut a size for the bust blended to 6 at waist and hips. I could have graded to a 8 for more ease.
I got lost in the instructions a bit, probably because there are so many options! Otherwise, it went rather quickly with only 4 main pieces and bands.
My only problem was with the top upper center back, where fabric is pooling. Next time, I’ll narrow this part (I have a narrow upper back so no big deal, I’m used to doing this modification). I’ll also lower the shoulder slope.
I might add some length to the bottom part because it’s a tad too short for me!
I like the front, closed by either snaps or buttons. I wore it over our 3-day extreme heat wave (with no A/C) and it was perfect. My plan is to sew one or two new rompers, but I need to find knits as softs as the one I used!
