A Nottingham top for her

When my daughter saw my Nottingham Tops, she instantly fell in love with them. She’s always a bit dubious when I sew something for me, but that’s normal because the designs are more mature, less tween-teen-friendly.

But it was love at first sight for my Nottinghams!

Her Nottingham Top

I told her that we should check her measurement against the sizing chart “just in case”. I took new measurements because she’s at that age when measurements from last month are way behind the new measurements!!!

Checking up against the chart yielded a size 00!!! But with a tiny alteration at the length. I only took 3cms off the total length at the shorten/lengthen line available on the front and back pattern pieces.

This fabric might be a bit lighweight for the Nottingham, but it is YELLOW, her favorite color. Moreover, it has LUREX in it i.e. it shimmers!!! And, to top it all, I managed to finish this coupon with this Nottingham! I’m right in the middle of a fabric-closet purge: sew what you have in your knit stash before ordering more… (trying really hard, trust me, but those magical UV knits just call my name!).

The knotted hem is supposed to rest on the left hip in the pattern, but I had to play fabric-Tetris to cut all the pieces…hence the knot at the right hip. I also serged the pieces of the knot together (and finished with the sewing machine close to the knot).

That’s such a quick sew and I’m happy to make her happy, but how on earth my little tiny baby can now wear a size 00 in Itch to Stitch’s patterns????

All in all, that’s great to be able to sew her more “mature” things. I think that the time of the ruffle dresses is over…!!!
