A Maui-Lanai sleepwear set

Did you think that I would have summer slipt without sewing PJ’s???

This one will be perfect for mid-season since it pairs flannel shorts and a jersey cami.

The lot Maui et Lanai* bundle (Pattern Niche) is just you’ve been looking for in terms of versatility.

A few words about the Maui and Lanai patterns

Behind these Hawai-inspired names, 2 loungewear patterns can be found: The Maui tank or cami* and the Lanai*, for shorts/pants.

Maui

This pattern is meant for stretchy knits (at leats 50%). Maui* can either be a tank (with an optinal racer back) or a cami.

A shelf bra can be sewn and you can adorn the front with a strip of elastic, for cute gathers.

Sizes go from XXS to US 30.

Lanai

Same size range for the Lanai pattern* (almost: 00 to 30). You can choose to sew some straight/fitted legs, capris, or shorts. I was really happy to sew that you could use wovens as well as stable knits for these bottoms.

2 rise heights (mid or high), elastic waistband (with optional decorative ties), and inseam and back pockets are included. The fitted legs have a length of elastic at the ankles.

Enjoying the mid-season

I made straight size 8 for my set, meaning that I would be able to squeeze it into fabric remnants.

The flannel* comes from my daughter’s Jalie classical PJ’s.  I did the plainest of plainest pair of shorts with mid-rise and noc pocket.

The cami’s fabric comes from my Lille summer nightgown.

It’s a perfect fit apart from some extra length, but it’s not a real problem, especially with loungewears.

I used my Janome machines for both garments: my 6700P and my 744D serger.

I also used the double needle for hemming since my coverstitch is misbehaving (again…). I’ve found a video showing that some Janome 1000 CPX coverstitch machines need to have the feed dogs raised. I’ll try that in order to see if I can get nice even coverstitch.
