The Foz pattern

Designed by Itch to Stitch*, Foz* is a cardigan in US sizes 00-40 and A- DD cups.

The only option is the sleeve length (short or long).

I was one fo the testers for this pattern and I had used some cotton knit (you can read about it here).

Stretchy burgundy knit

I had some of this knit left from a Venado top, another of ITS pattern.

It went through multiples washing machine cycles and was still perfect. So I had no anxiety using it for the Foz top.

I had cut a size 6 bust blended to 8 below. I adjusted the neckline area, being a low-base neck type of girl (J.Stern’s tutorial for the win!). I took 0.5 cm off the front and back.

Everything was quick and easy until I reached the band sewing. I couldn’t get around, as if it were too short. It had been cut as instructed. I don’t know what I did!

I opted to cut a long rectangle and to sew it as I went:

  1. I only sewed ONE end of the band.
  2. I sewed the band without stretching it on the straight parts and stretched it slightly on the neckline curve.
  3. I checked where it reached the bottom of the last straight part and then sewed shut the other end of the band.

Buttons were given by a friend’s mum and they add a retro-chic look to the top.

I sewed them through both bands, skipping the buttonholes. I also handstitched between them to prevent the top from showing off what should not be shown!

Love this. I saved a screenshot from your FB post with both of your tops and created an inspiration collage to remind me.

Thank you! I love that I’m able to sew basics and more elaborate garments. Coats and shirts are awesome, but I use more tops in a week than coats!
