I love the names Kennis gives to her patterns. The last one is named after a Portuguese town so let me introduce you to Itch to Stitch‘s newest pattern, the Aveiro cardigan. I’ve been sewing quite a lot of ITS patterns lately…!
I did a Bonn shirt for the ITS blogtour last week and now, with fall coming, a nice cardi is great.
The pattern
This pattern is, once again, full of options :
- V-neckline with button bands
- 4 lengths: bolero, short, regular, and duster/maxi
- 3 sleeve lengths: short, 3/4, and long
- 2 cuff styles for the long sleeve option: regular cuff or longer cuff
Sizing goes from US00 to US24. I cut a straight size 8 and did my usual alterations i.e. shortening the torso length and the sleeves. I didn’t touch the shoulders (but will next time).
My Aveiro cardigan
I chose the regular length and sewed it out of some knit jersey that was a bit too much stretchy hence the slouchy look. I like my Aveiro that way too.
I really tried to make my stripes match…but failed. t took me ages to try and match them before cutting. When I was a newbie sewist, stripe matching wasn’t such a big deal, but now I really need to have them match and here…they don’t…
I used [amazon_textlink asin=’B07B24YQG3|B01N7QRYKT|B07B24YQG3′ text=’Kam snaps‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’laca0c6-21|lacasacactu0e-21|lacasacactus-21′ marketplace=’FR|DE|UK’ link_id=’66313536-bfca-11e8-9e9d-011bd565e4bf’] instead of buttons because I wasn’t keen on driving to get buttons. I do love my [amazon_textlink asin=’B07G4F4CY5|B0149I5GY8|B01M0KY6N4′ text=’Kam pliers‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’laca0c6-21|lacasacactu0e-21|lacasacactus-21′ marketplace=’FR|DE|UK’ link_id=’7b3ffc6a-bfca-11e8-8bea-c3b3ed80ed10′]! And I also love my [amazon_textlink asin=’B01H96S8N8|B01H96S8N8|B01H96S8N8′ text=’Simflex gauge‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’lacasacactu0e-21|lacasacactus-21|laca0c6-21′ marketplace=’DE|UK|FR’ link_id=’93d88682-bfca-11e8-869a-8950acfe95d6′]. I need it a lot since I always shorten the torso. I just have to place the first and last buttonholes and tadah…the gauge does the rest! No need to calculate the spacing.
