Lagan, my dream coat

Can you imagine that this Lagan coat* was finished last February???

It’s been so difficult not to mention it, but now, since the pattern is available i can tell you won’t be disappointed.

It’s just perfect in any color.

The Lagan coat pattern

Designed by my favorite designer, Kennis Wong from Itch to Stitch*, this coat is amazingly drafted.

It’s not for the faint at heart though. You will need time ahead of you to cut the pieces, sew a muslin, make all of the alterations for your unique body shape, etc.

But it’s such a rewarding project once finished.

The waist is lightly cinched, there are shoulder pads, all of the princess darts help shape the whole coat, there are pockets. What can I say more apart from I LOVE MY LAGAN COAT*?

My Lagan coat

I cut a muslin in size 8 (top) blended to 10 at the hips.

I had to lower the bust apex 2.5 cm and shorten the shoulder seam (- 1 cm).

I bought this awesome 100% wool fabric in a bright color. The lining is some Bemberg.

The huge buttons (22 mm) are made from recycled materials and were just the  teal shade I wanted.

I enjoyed topstitching all of the seams. It will take time, oh trust me, but so worthy. It gives structure to the coat.

This is one expensive project fabric-wise, but you will be so happy once it’s done and be able to parade in your handmade coat.
