I’m always happy to see Jalie’s newest collection. I belong to their pool of testers and I tested the Jocelyne polo dress.

I loved its shape and I had the perfect fabric on hand.

Jocelyne, a polo dress

Jocelyne is the archetype of the summer dress, but with a twist.

The twist is in the princess seams: you can totally color-block your dress! Or add some piping in the seams. Imagine a black dress with white piping.

Optional zippered pockets are sewn at the front. The front V neckline is finished by a facing. The seam between collar and dress is hidden by a strip of fabric.

This pattern size chart ranges from 2A to 2X then 1X to 5X. It’s a layered PDF.

Polo knit for my Jocelyne dress

This pattern requires some strechy knit because there’s no closure system so you need some stretch to get your head through the neckline!

In 2019, I had bought some polo knit yardages. I used the navy blue for my skorts and I still had the black knit. I used some fuschia milano for the band and 2 black invisible zippers.

When I tested this pattern end of 2021, I cut a size V blended to W for waist and hips.

Sewing the invisible zippers to the pocket is the main difficulty in my opinion.

I used both sewing machine and serger. The polo knit was a pleasure to sew: not flimsy, nice color, stretchy enough.

I find the length good. For my next Jocelyne, I’ll raise the waistline a bit (and lengthen the skirt accordingly). I may also deal with a slight swayback adjustment since I have some fabric pooling at the bottom of my back.
