Her Cascade Tee (Pattern Niche)

by Elsa

I’m trying to sew those rather big scraps of fabric I have and what’s better than sewing cute tops for my teenage daughter?

I had enough fabric left from my Orosi top so I decided to sew this Cascade Tee from Pattern Niche. You may remember the Harbor Hoodie I did from the same designer last fall.

The Cascade Tee

That’s a relatively simple t-shirt pattern to sew.

Features

  • sleeve length options
  • sizes: 6M to 16Y
  • Option: front and back flounces

Sewing techniques

  • sewing knits
  • sewing knit bands around neckline and armholes

Some AGF knit for her Cascade Tee

I measured her accurately and it placed her in size 14Y for bust and size 12Y everywhere else.

Since my AGF knit was rather soft and stretchy, I cut a straight size 12Y.

She didn’t know I was sewing hre this top so I chose the options unilateraly: sleeveless and with flounce.

Neckline and armholes were finished with knit bands, so you’ll need some knit with good stretch and recovery.

Evrything was sewn with my serger (Janome 744D). I left the flounces unhemmed because of the drape of the fabric…and also because I would have had to uncover my coverlock machine!

Tip: since the flounce is cut on the fold, be aware that using a directional fabric will mean having one half upside-down. My fabric was directional with quotes, but it’s hardly noticeable!

I think I could have shorten the tee at the hem.

I had bought that pattern when it was released and never sewn it. Sometimes, you just need time and the right type of fabric.

Pattern: Cascade Tee
