A light grey Terrazzo slipover

My Petite Knit’s Terrazzo slipover was recently finished.

I hadn’t planned to knit it, but it saved my Drops Alaska yarn from staying too long in its box.

Comfy cozy collar

I had bought the yarn for another of Petite Knit’s patterns, namely the Esther cardigan. I was rather far along the way (after 5 falses starts and multiple mistakes) when I spotted a fatal error and unknit everything.

I needed a palate cleanser so I chose something simple. Hence, my choice of a slipover with a comfy chunky collar.

It was the perfect project for building back my confidence.

Technical features are the following:

  • stockinette and twisted ribs
  • Italian bind-off
  • double knitting
  • picking up stitches

A light grey Terrazzo

I used 4.5mm circular needles with the Drops Alaska.

I knitted a size L instead of a size M;. Petite Knit patterns usually runs from XXS to XXL so M is the 4th size. I didn’t notice that the 4th size on Terrazzo was a L since this pattern sizing ranges from XS to 5XL… My bad!

Let’s say that I wasn’t so focussed at the time, knitting-wise!

The way the shoulders are built is amazing. It’s a kind of invisible picking up. One shoulder is better than the other. The video truely helped me because the process wasn’t so straightforward.

Drops Alaska is not the right yarn, it doesn’t have the right drape, it’s a bit too stiff. It may explain why my underarm bands curl outwards a bit.

Even if the yarn is probably not the best choice, this slipover has already been worn with delight a certain number of times. It’s extremely comfy and cozy.

I like the side slits. Much better for the fit and they go with either a pencil skirt or jeans.

The hi-low hem is the cutest. Those are details, but they bring so much to the overall design.

I’m positive that I’ll knit another Terrazzo slipover in the future, but I’ll choose some yarn with more drape.
