When I saw the Campfire pattern by George+Ginger, I was sold! It had been a long time I last bought a pattern (one of the perks of being a pattern tester!), but it was love at first sight!
To be honest, my plan was to sew the romper for my teenage daughter because she loves rompers. I benefited from the release sale and bough the bundle: the Campfire set, the Extra top and the October top/dress.
The Campfire pattern
This pattern is meant for medium to heavy weight knit. I had exactly what I needed: some navy blue milano (Alltissus).
I had already sewn a G+G pattern, my lovely little black dress (Mix It Up pattern) and I knew that G+G patterns are great without too many alterations (I chose a size 12).
My romper is the capri length version. I shortened the bust, but I think that next time I will also shortent the front rise abit because it’s a bit baggy there.
Nothing too tricky to sew. In about 2 hours I had my new romper done.
The top is lined so you may take this into account and decide to line it with a lighter knit.
Details
There’s a nice V at the front and back.
The back is underlined with ties that are placed rather high. I do love that detail.
The straps are made of 2 thin straps joined together below the shoulders.
The legs are roomy and comfy!
You can also sew side pockets (I didn’t).
Another one?
I want to sew myself a new romper, floor-length, in a floral knit and worn with a bodysuit underneath (to minimize the underwear line…!). I spotted the Simplicity B8513 that offers a wide range of options.
I might also sew the Campfire dress, after having checked the length since G+G dress patterns are rather short…!
