The Uptown/Downtonwn Dress by Terri-Lin Collections is the first pattern of a really talented lady (please, have a look at her blog)  This dress is made of knits, it has a facing (you know how I love facing vs binding!) and the boatneck enhances Miss G’s shoulders. The simple A-line gives it a casual look, but it can also be a bit more formal depending on your choice of fabric and/or your embellishments.

Terri did an amazing job providing a pattern that is beginner-friendly, with a lot of possible alterations, all of them described at the end of the general instructions. If you don’t like facing, just add some binding on the inside. She even provides you with 2 ways of sewing your binding! I didn’t know that I was doing it the French way…which is not a surprise since…I’m French!

You can sew this dress with our without sleeves. I chose cap sleeves (because I like them!), but Terri also designed a 3/4 length sleeve to suit cooler weather.

(no, we don’t have oversized ladybugs in France…! she thought that adding props would be good!)

The Uptown/Downtown Dress pattern is a layered pattern i.e. you can choose to print only the size you need. Eco-friendly (and ink-saver too!). The size range is 2T-10.

(I confess I played a bit with Picmonkey!)

You can see above that the dress hits right at the knee, making it comfortable to wear and with a good twirl potential (not shown here since Miss G was much more interested in playing with the wooden ladybug on the leaf!!!).

This pattern is now available on Terri-Lin Collections’ Etsy shop and I do hope that there will be many more patterns coming!!!

Some of my fellow testers have planned to make a review of this pattern. Have a look at their Uptown/Downtown Dress (that list will be updated daily!):
