Itch to Stitch: Beausoleil Top

by Elsa

I love taking time to test patterns for me! The Beausoleil Top is the latest pattern by Itch to Stitch and, as always, I wasn’t disappointed! I’ve already tested quite a few of Kennis’s patterns and I’m in awe at how clever her patterns are. This one is no exception: I’m completely in love with it and, for once, really enjoyed having my pictures taken (I paired the Beausoleil with my ITS’s Liana Stretch Jeans…ITS-total look)!

Some technical details for the Beausoleil: meant for wovens, bust darts to get a lovely shape there and various cup sizes (awesome feature!), cold-shoulder that cover the lovely (chubby) upper arms and a long lapped zipper at the back (totally impossible to picture it here because of the plaid…!). A dress version is available and you get pockets with it!

I did a 8B blended to a 10 for waist and hips. I shortened the bodice 1/2″, but that’s a normal alteration for me since I’m barely reaching 5’4″.

My Liana Jeans, cut capri-length (actually, that’s a -very-wearable muslin!)

Beausoleil‘s inside is as pretty as the outside thanks to the all-in-one facings and the use of the burrito method to hide some seams. Everything is clearly explained and Kennis even added some picture tutorials for the trickier ones.

The back has a nice curve

And last but not least, I’d like to thank The Teen who took rather good pictures of his old mom (except that I got censored when I wanted to do a sexy Marilyn pose…pfff, not funny, son, not funny!).

Then, he told me that someone was coming our way (and since we were shooting on our neighbours’ alley…no trespassing though!). Ha, he can be funny after all!

The fabric is some cotton that looks like gauze and was rather tricky to work with, but I like how it gives some casual chic to the Beausoleil.

Pattern: Beausoleil Top, Itch to Stitch

Sizes: 00-20, cups ABCD and DD

Suggested fabrics: cotton, crepe, poplin, any type of woven (light-to medium weight)

Difficulty: Intermediate

Hi Elsa, your photos and Beausoleil top are really great! How exciting to take the shoots on a ‘secret’ place! Maybe your neighbors now recognize their wall on this post! Hahaha!
